US Students " Pitch in the Help CBF and The Garden Valley Neighborhood

On April 29, 2008 the McKinley House of University School lended a hand, as part of their Service Day, to the Cleveland Baseball Federation by traveling to one of the organization's community fields, on E 73rd in downtown Cleveland, to restore the field. Over 35 boys aging from 15 to 18 helped out by picking up trash, sweeping sidewalks, pulling roots from the infield, and raking the infield. In only a few hours starting at 9:30 in the morning, the field was already looking better. We worked hard, tried our best and kept in the back our minds that someday inner city kids would be playing on this field. The field plans to debut in late May and all of us from the house and University School wish the teams, coaches, and players best of luck in their season.

Yours Truly Restaurants collects baseball gloves for Cleveland Baseball Federation

From March 15 to April 15, all Yours Truly locations will be collecting new and gently used baseball gloves for the Cleveland Baseball Federation (CBF).

This marks the second consecutive year that Yours Truly has partnered with CBF, a 98-year-old non-profit that runs all the baseball and softball programs for the City of Cleveland.

CBF provides full funding for over 7,000 youth participants, as well as the necessary leadership to ensure that the baseball programs contain components that promote social and educational values to help youth become productive adult citizens.

CBF Executive Director John Carter says the organization has volunteers who will recondition gently used gloves.  “This year, we decided to focus the collection drive specifically on gloves, one of our greatest needs,” says Carter.

Some past CBF participants include Cleveland Indians owner Larry Dolan, former professional basketball player Earl Boykins, former Major League baseball player Rich Rollins and Judge John E. Corrigan.

“Last year, our guests and staff really supported this program and many children benefited.  This year, we are proud to add an eighth collection location at our newest restaurant on Rockside Road,” says Yours Truly Partner Jeffrey Shibley.

Monetary donations will also be collected.  CBF is a charitable organization under 501(c)3 of the Internal Revenue Code and contributions are fully tax deductible.  Donations may be dropped off at Yours Truly during restaurant hours:  Monday through Saturday, 6:30 a.m. to 11 p.m., and Sunday from 7:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. or online at www.cbfkids.com.

Yours Truly Restaurants has eight locations including Beachwood, Chagrin Falls, Hudson, Mayfield Village, Medina, Mentor, Rockside and Shaker Square.   For more information about Yours Truly, visit www.ytr.com or, to learn more about Cleveland Baseball Federation, visit www.cbfkids.com.  For any other questions, please call 440-666-1967.
